Patti LaBelle has been a powerful singing voice for over two decades and her career has been nothing short of extraordinary. The ‘godmother’ of soul music is more than just a voice for singing as she has a very keen business sense as well which she has expressed in her writing of books as well as making moves in Hollywood.
She was born to Henry Holte and Bertha Holte on the 24th of May 1944 and is the next to youngest of five children in what is generally a big family of hers. She was always good with her voice and was a lead singer in her Church’s choir even at an early age due to her powerful singing voice. She graduated from John Bartram High School where she also won a singing competition in 1962 before taking a break and later returning to school and earning her diploma.
Her career is plagued with a lot of accolades and has earned the respect of all due to her diligence and warm heart.
