Roberto Ernesto Maroni, is an Italian politician from Varese, and also a former president of Lombardy, he was born on 15 March 1955. He was the head of the Northern League, which is a group fighting for Northern Italy’s or Padania’s independence. He served in the Italian Republic’s Chamber of Deputies from 1992 to 2013, he was consistently chosen from Lombard electoral districts, he served as the Italian Republic’s Interior Minister from 2008 through 2011.

Roberto Ernesto was chosen as the Northern League’s Province Secretary in Varese in 1990. In that same year, he was elected to Varese’s town council. He was chosen as the Northern League Parliamentary Group’s Chairman two years later, prior to Silvio Berlusconi first Cabinet, he also joined the party’s Federal Council and actively ran for the Northern League. During the initial Berlusconi administration, from 1994 to 1995, he served as the interior minister. He also served as minister of labor and welfare from 2001 until may 2006 In Berlusconi’s second and third cabinets.
