That three gave the ruling a narrow enough margin of victory to overturn the long-standing constitutional right to abortion. The majority opinion in the matter was written by Justice Samuel Alito, and Justice Clarence Thomas concurred.

In a statement, Trump claimed that Friday’s judgment and other recent court decisions “were only made possible because I accomplished everything as promised, including selecting and securing the confirmation of three highly regarded and powerful Constitutionalists to the United States Supreme Court.”

Although Roe v. Wade was overturned by five votes, Trump has nominated Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett as three of the five conservative justices of the Supreme Court.
