Barry Johann Ronge (1948 – 3 July 2022) was a South African columnist, journalist, essayist, telecaster, film commentator, and raconteur. He was one of the nation’s most popular film pundits as well as one of its generally broadly perused (and examined) journalists.

Ronge attended Florida Park High School after growing up in the West Rand. Hillbrow, Johannesburg, is where he was born. After completing his coursework at the University of the Witwatersrand, he started his appearance work at St. John’s College before spending a significant amount of time teaching writing at a fundamental institution.

Afterward, he made the change to news-casting, moving to paper and electronic media.

The Sunday Times’ Spit and Polish section, the distribution’s film audits, and Ronge’s Sunday night broadcast on Radio 702 among his most notable works.

On February 23, 2014, he distributed his last segment for the Sunday Times, where he had labored for a long time. The Sunday Times changed the name of its honor for South African writing to the Barry Ronge Fiction Prize in 2015.

On July 3, 2022, he passed away in Johannesburg, his hometown.
