Afeni Shakur Davis, also known as Alice Faye Williams, was an American political activist and Black Panther Party member who lived from January 10, 1947, to May 2, 2016. Williams attended Benjamin Franklin Junior High School in the Bronx, where she excelled academically and displayed above-average reading ability.

Afeni Shakur briefly held a position with the postal service, becoming one of the first women to deliver mail in New York. Williams joined the Black Panther Party in 1968 when they established an office in Harlem after hearing Bobby Seale speak. There she met Sunni Muslim Lumumba Shakur, whom she later wed in November 1968.

When Tupac was shot and killed in 1996, Afeni was the only person to receive any of his estate. All of Afeni’s “tangible personal property” was left to Sekyiwa when she passed away in 2016. Sekyiwa argued in the new lawsuit that this property should also include the belongings that Afeni inherited from Tupac.
