Elton is the older brother of Tony Jantjies, the team’s fly half. Thomas Jantjies, his father, died in hospital after being stung by a bee just a few weeks before his son joined the Stormers. Jantjies has previously described his father as both his leader and his kicking coach in interviews.
Jantjies was suspended from the Springboks squad and withdrawn from the team after allegations of improper behavior with Zeenat Simjee, the Springboks nutritionist, arose in September 2022 while the team was in Buenos Aires.
During the New Zealand test series, it was stated that he spent a night away from the squad at a separate hotel (a highly rare process for athletes), where visitors allegedly overheard the two having sexual encounters and subsequently arguing. He left the motel without paying the bill, and he didn’t pay the remainder for several weeks. Jantjies’ wife and the mother of his three children, Iva Ristic, is also Jantjies’ mother.

Zeenat Simjee and married father-of-three Jantjies left the camp last Sunday and returned to South Africa, according to press sources, after the couple had a romantic tryst ahead of the Springboks’ game against the All Blacks last month.
Simjee has refuted the allegations and demanded that the piece be retracted.
