Most people associate Bonds with the enormous home runs he hit toward the end of his career. It’s crucial to keep in mind though that he was once a skinny child playing for the Pirates. Bonds didn’t become a big impact player for a few years, but he did smash 25 home runs in his second MLB season and averaged over 30 between his fifth and seventh seasons in the majors.

Contrarily, Ruth spent the first six years of his career primarily as a pitcher before the Red Sox leased him to the Yankees. Because we’re comparing a position player to a pitcher in their early years, that affects the Bonds vs. Ruth argument. Anyways let’s answer the question of who is better Barry or Babe Ruth in the write-up.

Who is better Barry Bonds or Babe Ruth?

I believed that both Ruth and Barry were all good in their generation. However, in this criteria, Ruth holds the top slot in MLB history, with Bonds coming in third, one spot behind Ty Cobb. Ruth also holds the record for the highest OPS, which combines on-base percentage and slugging percentage, in baseball history. Ruth had an OPS of 1.164 towards the end of his career. With a 1.051 OPS at the end of his career, Bonds ranks fourth in MLB history. So from my view, I think Ruth Babe is better than Barry.
