In a chilling incident in Daytona Beach, Charles Leon Ivy, 34, is now at the center of a tragic case involving the stabbing and arson that resulted in the death of a 30-year-old mother, Den’Jah Moore, and her 10-month-old child. The horrific event unfolded when officials discovered the victims deceased after a house fire on Tuesday.

Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young, in a news conference, revealed that Ivy faces serious charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, and arson charges. Young labeled this case as one of the “most horrendous and horrific crimes” he has experienced in his entire career.

The tragedy didn’t stop at the loss of lives. Two more children, aged 4 and 5, managed to escape the fire but are currently in critical condition, intubated at the hospital. Young emphasized that their injuries resulted from being left to die in the fully engulfed fire.

The police chief credited first responders for saving the lives of the surviving children and pointed out the lack of a clear motive behind this gruesome incident. Ivy, identified as the father of the older children, was allegedly tracked to the crime scene via traffic cameras and was found in possession of the victim’s cellphone.

Court documents revealed unsettling details about the crime scene, with firefighters discovering multiple points of origin for the fire. Despite Ivy not confessing to the crime, the evidence, including his presence at the scene and possession of the victim’s phone, speaks for itself, according to Young.
