Who is Danelo Cavalcante?

According to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, Danelo Cavalcante, 34, escaped from Chester County Prison at roughly 8:50 a.m. on Thursday.

About 30 miles west of Philadelphia is where the prison located.

He was last observed at roughly 9:40 a.m. in a white T-shirt, grey shorts and white trainers, strolling along a road in Pocopson Township.

According to a news statement from the district attorney’s office, “Chester County Detectives and the Pennsylvania State Police are conducting a thorough county-wide search.”

Deb Ryan, the district attorney for Chester County, declared in a statement that Danelo Cavalcante “is thought to be an extremely dangerous man.”

Cavalcante was convicted of first-degree murder on August 16 for killing his former girlfriend in 2021. He was sentenced to life without parole last week.

The DA is urging the public to call 911 immediately if they have any information about the suspect.

After only 15 minutes of deliberation, a jury earlier this month found him guilty of killing his ex-girlfriend Deborah Brandao, 33, by stabbing her. At the time, he was sought for murder in his native Brazil, and according to the prosecution, he ‘silenced’ her after she threatened to report him after learning about his past.

He was convicted of first-degree murder on August 16 and given a life sentence on August 21 after two of his pals testified against him. His escape occurred just a few weeks after those events.

The Philadelphia Inquirer said that he killed Brandao with a kitchen knife that he had been slicing meat with earlier that day in order to prepare for a barbecue.

Ryan claimed that when Brandao threatened to report him to the police after learning that he had hacked her Instagram account to spy on her, the jury heard about it.

Prosecutors said at his trial that Cavalcante was a “angry and jealous boyfriend who needed to be in control” and that the couple was engaged in an abusive relationship.

Brandao was playing with her two children outside her home on the day of the murder when the killer approached her and threatened to “do something bad to their lives.”

According to testimony presented at his trial, he then repeatedly stabbed her in the upper body and neck as her kids yelled at him to stop.

The stabbing, according to his defence, was caused by their volatile and toxic relationship, but the jury was unmoved and quickly returned a guilty judgement. On August 22, he received a life in prison sentence.

The 34-year-old former gang member Cavalcante was reportedly wanted in Brazil for the death of a guy who owed him money. It is unknown if he is still wanted for interrogation or if there is a current warrant for his arrest in Brazil.
