Deborah Fraser born 9, 1966 in Kwamashu, South Africa was a South African gospel singer. She was a backing vocalist when she started her career. In 1984, Fraser moved to Johannesburg and worked as the backup vocalist for several artis such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Lucky Dube, Brenda Fassie, Rebecca Malope, Hugh Masekela, Jonas Gwangwa and others….

In 1984, Fraser moved to Johannesburg and worked as the backup vocalist for several artis such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Lucky Dube, Brenda Fassie, Rebecca Malope, Hugh Masekela, Jonas Gwangwa and others. Through that she gained much experience and built her craft very well in order to succeed as a mainstream artist.

Years later she recorded her first album in 2000 which was titled Abanye Bayombona which earned her a deal she Universal Music.

Sockey Okeke, a Nigerian preacher, was Fraser’s wife. Fraser was awarded a doctorate of philosophy in the holy space of music by Trinity International Bible University in October 2021.

She died of a stroke on May 15, 2022, at the age of 56, at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital.
