Republican Party partisan, she belonged. Between 2005 and 2010, Walorski served as Indiana’s 21st district’s representative in the House of Representatives. She received the GOP nod in 2010 for Indiana’s 2nd congressional district, but Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly won the final election by a razor-thin margin. When Donnelly left his position to run for president in 2012, Walorski was elected to fill it. four times for the U.S. Senate.
Walorski was raised in the Gilmer Park area of South Bend, Indiana, with her two elder brothers after being born there on August 17, 1963. Martha C., her mom (née Martin), a meat cutter at a neighbourhood supermarket, and her father, Raymond B. Walorski, a firefighter who also ran an appliance store. Her ancestry was German and Polish. She graduated from Riley High School in 1981 after attending Hay Elementary School as a young child. After spending 1981–83 at Liberty Baptist College, she went on to Taylor University, where she earned a 1985 Bachelor of Arts in communications and public administration.
