When Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, 2022, Prince Charles became the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history, having served as Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952.

Since Charles became Prince of Wales on July 26, 1958, until his own coronation in November, he holds the record for longest tenure.

Charles, the first child of Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh, and Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was born on 14 November 1948 in Buckingham Palace during the reign of his maternal grandfather George VI.

On December 15th, 1948, Archbishop of Canterbury Geoffrey Fisher baptized him there. Charles became King after his grandfather died and his mother became Elizabeth II in 1952.
