Akwasi Addo Alfred Kwarteng is a British politician affiliated with the Conservative Party. He was born on May 26, 1975, and he has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency of Spelthorne in northern Surrey since 2010.
Between the years 2021 and 2022, he held the position of Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy. Subsequently, he was appointed by Liz Truss to serve as Chancellor of the Exchequer from September to October 2022.
Kwarteng was born in London to Ghanaian immigrants and attended Eton College and Trinity College, Cambridge. Before becoming an MP, he worked as a journalist for The Daily Telegraph and as a financial analyst.
