Who is Marilyn Mosby’s ex-husband, Nick Mosby?

The charges stem from allegations that Mosby made false statements on loan applications for two Florida vacation homes, utilizing a CARES Act provision designed for those facing financial hardship during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pleading not guilty to two counts of perjury and two counts of making false statements, Mosby is accused of applying for loans to withdraw funds from her retirement accounts. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison for each perjury count.

In addition to the perjury charges, Mosby is also facing accusations of making false mortgage applications for the vacation homes in a separate federal case. The trial for these charges will be conducted separately, with no set date announced yet.

The federal indictment, issued in January 2022, alleges that Mosby misrepresented her financial situation on the loan application, failing to disclose a gross salary of $247,955.58 that remained unchanged in 2020. Furthermore, she reportedly did not reveal a $45,000 federal back tax debt. The indictment claims Mosby falsely declared herself as the primary resident of one of the homes to secure a lower interest rate, despite having already entered into a rental agreement with a management firm. Notably, she sold one of the properties for a $150,000 profit.

Despite the charges, Mosby has maintained her innocence, describing the legal actions against her as a “political ploy.” The case has drawn attention due to Mosby’s previous high-profile role as Baltimore’s chief prosecutor and her involvement in the Freddie Gray case, where she charged six police officers in connection with Gray’s 2015 death.
