Michael Leslie Jones (born 27 December 1944) is an English musician, performer, songwriter, and record producer. He is the final surviving original member of the British-American rock group Foreigner. Prior to joining Foreigner, he was a member of the band Spooky Tooth. Jones picked up the guitar at a young age and decided to go into the music business.
As a member of the group Nero and the Gladiators, which had two small British hits singles in 1961, he started his professional music career in the early 1960s. Jones worked as a songwriter and session guitarist in France for musicians including Françoise Hardy, Sylvie Vartan, and Johnny Hallyday (commonly referred to as “The French Elvis”), for whom he composed several songs such “Je suis né dans la rue” and” tout casser” (which features Jimmy Page on guitar).
