Who is Quadir Quiroz?
Quadir Quiroz is 18 years old. He is being charged with felony aiding, inducing, or causing murder. He is also facing a felony gun enhancement charge. He was charged with murder on Friday.
He is accused of killing Ashanti Hines, a 19-year-old who unfortunately died while seated in a parked car in the 1000 block.
The probable cause affidavit suggests that Hines was not the intended victim in this case. Instead, Quiroz and another person were allegedly shooting at a man who happened to be riding in Hines’ car.
During the execution of a warrant three days after the shooting, the police discovered a firearm at a location where Quadir Quiroz was present. Notably, the casings from this firearm were found to be a match with those recovered at the scene of Ashanti Hines’ tragic murder, as indicated in police reports.
Also, a DNA profile obtained from the gun’s grip indicated a likelihood of at least one trillion times higher that it originated from Quiroz and three unidentified individuals rather than from four entirely unrelated individuals, as stated by the police.
In addition to this forensic evidence, three witnesses have come forward and informed investigators that both Quiroz and another individual were responsible for Hines’ murder. Two of these witnesses specifically mentioned that Quiroz and the other person admitted to targeting the individual they were shooting at but inadvertently killed Hines instead, according to reports.
Quiroz is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on September 28th.
