Richard Chileshe, a PF cadre and Kitwe merchant known as “Chile 1,” and three others were sentenced to five years in jail with hard labour for copper theft.
Chileshe and six other people accused me of being accomplices, named John Mapoma, Victor Bweupe, Evans Mulenga, Mukwapatila Tembo Kapango, Kelvin Tembo, and Davy Ngosa, were accused of stealing 30 copper blisters worth K1 million and burying them in a garage in Mindolo township. Bweupe, Kapango, and Tembo, on the other hand, were acquitted by the court.
Kitwe principal resident magistrate Ikechukwu Iduma reproached Chileshe, Mapoma, Mulenga, and Ngosa with a five-year prison sentence when the case showed up for judgment.
Mulenga was one of the defendants, and the court issued an arrest order for him in his absence. Meanwhile, Chileshe was scheduled to appear in court yesterday to face charges of threatening violence.
Chile 1 is accused of threatening violence in violation of Zambian law in this instance. Chile was charged on July 15, 2015, for discharging a loaded firearm to cause alarm to the public.
