Days before Benigeri’s death, Neel Acharya, an Indian-origin student pursuing a double major at Purdue University, was found dead near the university’s airport. The circumstances of Acharya’s death remain mysterious, with an autopsy revealing no signs of trauma, leading authorities to rule out foul play at this stage. The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office is awaiting toxicology results to determine the cause of death​​​​.

In a separate incident, Vivek Saini, a 25-year-old MBA student in Georgia, was brutally murdered by a homeless drug addict in Lithonia, Georgia.
