Talia Shire Wiki Biography

Talia Shire, was born on 25 April 1946, in Lake Success, New York state USA. She is an actress, probably best known for her roles in such movies as “The Godfather” and “Rocky”. During her career, Talia has been nominated for and has won various awards. Some of them include, Academy Award, Golden Globe, Lifetime Achievement Award in the Action on Film International Film Festival and many others. In addition to her appearances in films, Talia has also appeared in many television shows. Although she is now 69 years old, she still continues her acting career. Hopefully, she will be able to do this for a long time.

So how rich is Talia Shire? Sources estimate that Talia’s net worth is $15 million. The main source of her wealth are her remarkable appearances in such movies as “Rocky” and “The Godfather”, although of course her other appearances also added to her net worth. As there is a high chance that Talia will receive more invitation to act in different projects, her net worth might also grow. If this happens, Talia’s fans will be able to enjoy her acting skills and support her even more.

Talia Shire Net Worth $15 Million

Talia’s acting career began in 1968, when she appeared in the movie, called “The Wild Racers”. Later she appeared in several more movies, but she was still not very famous and recognizable until, in 1972, Talia was cast in the acclaimed movie, called “The Godfather”, directed by her brother Francis Ford Coppola. During the making of this film, Talia had an opportunity to work with such actors as Al Pacino, James Caan, Marlon Brando, John Marley, Robert Duvall and many others. Talia was very successful at portraying her role in this movie and the director decided to cast her in its sequels. This, undoubtedly, had a huge impact on the growth of Shire’s net worth.

Another successful step in her acting career was appearing in the movie called “Rocky” starring with famous Sylvester Stallone, and its sequels. Soon Talia became one of the more famous actresses in the industry. Her acting skills were acclaimed by producers, directors and other actors in the industry. Later Talia appeared in such movies as “The Visit”, “A River Made to Drown In”, “The Black and the White”, “The Deported” and others. Overall Talia has appeared in more than 50 films.

As mentioned, Talia is not only famous in the movie industry, but in the television industry as well. Some of the television shows that Talia has appeared in include “Rich Man, Poor Man”, “Born Into Exile”, “Faerie Tale Theatre”, “Blue Smoke” and others, more than 20 in all. All these appearances added to Talia Shire’s net worth. Hopefully, Talia will appear in more new and successful projects.

To talk about Talia’s personal life, it can be said that she was married twice. Her first husband was David Shire(1970-80), with whom she has a son, but their marriage ended in divorce. In 1980 she married Jack Schwartzman, with whom she has two children, but who died in 1994. Talia has two other children. All in all, Talia Shire is a beautiful, talented woman, who has worked hard in order to achieve the acclaim that she deserves. Maybe now she is not appearing in such famous movies, but she is still respected in the movie and television industries. Hopefully, she will continue her career for as long as she is able to.

Quote
1 I have a feeling when I’m 80 years old I’m going to get a phone call: There’s going to be another Rocky.
2 [on her famous brother, Francis Ford Coppola] He’s the best director in the world – period.

Fact
1 Her 1986 BMX film, RAD received negative reviews while in theaters, but quickly found a following and became a top-ten video rental for two years after the movie’s release. It has since become a cult classic. Talia Shire’s husband Jack Schwartzman was a producer of the film and she currently owns the rights to it. She refuses to release them, therefore, the movie can’t be re-released or be put on DVD for all the fans.
2 In the original script for The Godfather: Part II (1974), Kay (Diane Keaton) was truly to have suffered a miscarriage. When Talia read it, she suggested to Francis Ford Coppola that Kay should have an abortion instead. Coppola agreed that this would hurt Michael much more, and he changed the script accordingly. As a thank you to Talia, he wrote for her the scene in which a tearful Connie begs Michael to forgive Fredo. She ended up being nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the film.
3 She played the aunt of her real life niece Sofia Coppola in The Godfather: Part III (1990).
4 She has appeared in six sequels to Best Picture Academy Award winners, more than anyone else: The Godfather: Part II (1974) (which itself won Best Picture), Rocky II (1979), Rocky III (1982), Rocky IV (1985), Rocky V (1990) and The Godfather: Part III (1990).
5 She appeared in three Best Picture Academy Award winners: The Godfather (1972), The Godfather: Part II (1974) and Rocky (1976). Joe Spinell also appeared in all three films.
6 As of 2014, has appeared in four films that were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: The Godfather (1972), The Godfather: Part II (1974), Rocky (1976) and The Godfather: Part III (1990), with the latter being the only film to not win in the category.
7 Was the first family member of Francis Ford Coppola to play a part in the Godfather series, and she set a trend that the others followed: all of their characters had the same relationship to Michael Corleone in the films, that they had to Coppola in real life. Talia, as Francis’ sister, played Michael’s sister. Her mother Italia Coppola played Michael’s mother – although only at the character’s funeral. Her niece, and Francis’ daughter, Sofia Coppola, played Michael’s daughter and Connie Corleone’s niece. Diane Keaton, who played Michael’s wife, has also said that she based her performance as Kay on Eleanor Coppola, Francis’ wife.
8 Played the girlfriend of a poor boxer twice in 1976: With Nick Nolte in the TV miniseries “Rich Man, Poor Man” and with Sylvester Stallone in “Rocky.”.
9 Granddaughter of Francesco Pennino. Her character in Rocky (1976), Adrian Pennino, was named after him.
10 Her two most famous characters, Connie Corleone and Adrian Balboa, changed drastically during their respective franchises (“The Godfather” and “Rocky”). In “The Godfather” saga, her character Connie went from being an innocent, dutiful wife who suffered from abuse to being a strong willed, powerful woman who took an active part in the family business and championed nephew Vincent to become Don. In the “Rocky” franchise, her character Adrian went from being a shy, timid, quiet girl to being a strong woman who often gave her husband the support and extra strength he needed to go the distance and overcome his opponents.
11 Like her character Connie Corleone in the Godfather saga, she too is the youngest member of her family and the only daughter.
12 Is the only person to be directed to an Oscar-nomination by a sibling. Her brother Francis Ford Coppola directed her in The Godfather: Part II (1974).
13 Children: Matthew Orlando Shire (b. 1975), Jason Francesco (b. 1980) and Robert Carmine (b. 1982).
14 Is Italian/American.
15 Is in many movies with Rocky co-star Burt Young and the two are good friends.
16 Stepmother of John Schwartzman and Stephanie Schwartzman.
17 Mother of Matthew Shire, Jason Schwartzman and Robert Schwartzman.
18 Aunt of Marc Coppola, Christopher Coppola, Nicolas Cage, Sofia Coppola and Roman Coppola
19 Daughter of composer Carmine Coppola and Italia Coppola.
20 Takes name from a previous marriage to composer David Shire.
21 Younger sister of Francis Ford Coppola and August Coppola.
