Anthony and Joe Russo’s expensive Netflix film “The Gray Man,” which stars Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, also stars Tamil cinema star Dhanush as a scene-stealing sparring partner for Gosling’s CIA assassin, who briefly succeeds in overthrowing him late in the film.

If you’ve seen the motion picture, which is an adaptation of Mark Greaney’s best-selling book of the same name, you might have been pleasantly surprised that the Russos didn’t just give the adored action hero a fleeting cameo before killing him off.

Instead, Avik San, also known as the Lone Wolf, Dhanush’s assassin, lives to see another day and is apparently going to make a reappearance in the previously planned spin-off or sequel.

During a face-to-face interview with the Russos at the end of June, Insider questioned them about the reasons behind Dhanush’s casting and why they made it a point to avoid killing him off as a quick cameo.

The two told us that directing four films, including “Avengers: Endgame,” and working with Marvel Studios had a favourable influence on their decision-making.

One aspect of “global storytelling,” in the words of Joe Russo, “is trying to invite more people to see the film from their perspective.” “Movies have been so American and Anglocentric for such a long time.”
