After several weeks of criticizing and deliberation, the English Premier League’s board of directors has authorized Todd Boehly’s consortium’s £4.25 billion takeovers of Chelsea after all potential board members passed the league’s owners’ and directors’ exams.
The sale of the club to Roman Abramovich must still be approved by the UK government, which must issue a sale licence.
The league said in a statement: “The Premier League Board has today approved the proposed takeover of Chelsea Football Club by the Todd Boehly/Clearlake consortium.
The members of the Consortium purchasing the club are affiliates of the Clearlake Capital Group, L.P., Todd Boehly, Hansjorg Wyss and Mark Walter with businessman Todd Boehly leading them.
