Carrillo struck many parked cars as well as the roadway curb while running against Kevin de León for a seat on the L.A. City Council. As per reports, there were no reported injuries.
Who is Wendy Carrillo?
American politician Wendy Maria Carrillo Dono was born on August 10, 1980, and she is presently a member of the California State Assembly. She represents the 52nd State Assembly district, which includes portions of northeastern and east Los Angeles, and is a Democrat. On December 16, 2017, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon swore her into office.
She has the distinction of being the first immigrant from El Salvador and the first immigrant who was previously illegal to be elected to the State Assembly. She studied broadcast journalism at the University of Southern California, from which she graduated. Carrillo was a journalist, media analyst, and communications specialist before entering politics.
Carrillo has sponsored laws that would provide more Californians with access to affordable housing, healthcare, and education strongly committed to social justice and equity. She also fervently believes in the protection of the environment, workers’ rights, and immigration rights.
Carrillo was arrested by the LAPD in November 2023 on suspicion of DUI. She is presently awaiting the outcome of the allegations against her.
