Her death is connected to a colleague of hers in their base of Fort Hood, a colleague who was known as Aaron David Robinson. As to the question of motive, well, it is rumored the late Vanessa knew of a secret relationship shared between Aaron and one other Cecily Aguilar who is the wife of a fellow colleague soldier.
After her body was discovered two months after it was declared Vanessa had gone missing, Aaron fled Fort Hood only to shoot himself before the authorities got a chance to apprehend him for further questioning.
