In an effort to balance its books in preparation for yet another initial public offering, Dole plans to sell its expansive corporate headquarters and shut down its strawberry production in Southern California.

The largest fresh produce company in the world has nearly $1.3 billion in debt, low-profit margins, and declining sales. According to regulatory filings and analysts, this practice forces the sale of some of its enormous real estate holdings in Hawaii and the US mainland.

Last year, Dole reported $4.5 billion in revenue, a decrease of almost 3% from the year before, and a net loss of $23 million. The company did not even start marketing its IPO until after it had initially filed for it in April. How much money it intends to raise is unknown.
