John Fry was known to be the founder of the venture, and it was founded in the year May 17, 1985, in Sunnyvale, California in the United States.

As of the year 2018, the company recorded a revenue amount of 2.3 billion USD. However, reports coming in indicated that it ceased operations in the year 2018. However, before the issue of cessation of its activities at the said date, it also dealt in the repair of computers aside from the above-mentioned services it renders. John Fry was known to have begun it with just a store in a location called Sunnyvale in California, and with time it expanded to about 34 stores in several nine states. The circumstances that surrounded its closure were attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic.
