Nickelodeon is an American pay television network owned by Paramount Global through its Paramount Media Networks division. The channel’s programming is mainly aimed at children and adolescents aged 8 to over and primarily consists of original first-run television series, along with occasional broadcasts of theatrical and original made-for-television films, as well as other selected third-party programming.

In 1979, the channel rebranded as Nickelodeon and extended its original programming portfolio, which eventually included the sketch comedy show You Can’t Do That on Television. The Canadian-produced series is renowned for pioneering the channel’s iconic and regular usage of green slime in its early years, having been shown on a local station in Ottawa.

Throughout history, Nickelodeon has introduced several sister channels and programming blocks. Nick Jr. is a preschool morning block launched on January 4, 1988. Nicktoons, based on the flagship brand, launched as a separate sister channel in 2002.
