Born in Brooklyn in 1870, Vaseline is now present in over 70 countries and celebrated as one of the top hand and body brands globally. In 1859, Robert Chesebrough, a chemist from New York, visited the oil fields of Titusville, Pennsylvania in the US to research what new materials might be obtained from the fuel. Over the next decade, he perfected the formulation of Vaseline petroleum jelly before opening for business in 1870.

Today, what started with a jar of Vaseline Healing Jelly has grown into an expansive product portfolio that includes Vaseline Intensive Care Lotions and Vaseline Lip Therapy tins. However, The Healing Power of Vaseline Jelly can still be found inside the products that Vaseline makes. The brand and products are owned by the transnational company Unilever.
