Winston has won 78 best-in-show trophies throughout the course of his career, according to The National Dog Show. The event, which was held in Philadelphia at the American Kennel Club (AKC) on November 19 and 20, was telecast on Thanksgiving.

For each of the 212 dog breeds recognized by the AKC, the seven categories of sports, hound, working, terrier, toy, non-sporting, and herding are used. Following that, the seven group winners compete for best in the show.

Before competing against the other group champions, Winston reportedly defeated 20 other breeds to win best in his group, the non-sporting group. He competed against 1,500 dogs in all to claim the title.
