Younkers Inc., an American online retailer and previous network of department stores was founded in 1856 in Keokuk, Iowa, as a family-run dry goods business.
The business expanded over the period of more than 150 years to have locations all throughout Iowa and surrounding states in the Midwest of the United States.

Younkers gathered a number of rivals throughout the 20th century, both inside and outside of Iowa, which aided in its rise to power. Late in the 1990s, the company was sold, and the ownership changed. The chain’s Des Moines corporate office had been closed by 2003 due to a business merger.

After being sold in 2006, Younkers continued to run as a Bon-Ton subsidiary, with most of its stores being found in malls spread throughout seven Midwestern states. The chain had more than fifty neighboring locations as of 2013. The final 17 Younkers locations were all closed on August 29, 2018.

Who Owns Younkers?

The BrandX company is now in charge of the intellectual property that Bon-Ton and Stage Stores once possessed. Beginning in 2021, CSC Generation sold the company to BrandX. They secretly sold BrandX.com in New York all of the Bon-Ton assets they had purchased.
