Nigerian rapper Oladips aka Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji died at the age of 28, as confirmed by his management in an Instagram post.

“We are still in shock as we speak,” his managers wrote on Instagram. The message stated that he “kept his battles within himself” for two years, however, it is unknown what caused his death.

“His storytelling rap was excellent,” X, a former fan, commented on Twitter.

Hermes Iyele, a competitor on Big Brother Naija, expressed astonishment at the young rapper’s passing and said, “May God grant the family the grace to carry this grief.”

Who was Oladips?

Oladips aka Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji was a Nigerian rapper. Oladips was born in Ogun State on March 24, 1995, according to legit.ng. His true name is Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, as was previously mentioned. According to reports, he attended the University of Jos, Plateau, to get his economics degree.

At the age of 17, he began rapping and entered the “King is Here” competition, winning it. He started working with the Nigerian record label Edge Records and kept putting out new music.

Rapping on political problems, including the ENDSars demonstrations against police brutality, Oladips was a gifted musician. In his songs, he also touched on mental health and depression.

Popular hip-hop figures recognized his talent, and he immediately began to play at various events. He planned to join the Olamides YBNL, but it was thwarted by the fact that Chinko Ekun shared nearly the same rhyming style as him and the record label.
