The Israeli Army has announced that Staff Sergeant Shahar Cohen of the 401st “Iron Tracks” Brigade has been killed in battle against Hamas in northern Gaza.
On Monday morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported the tragic loss of Staff Sergeant Shahar Cohen Mivtach, a 22-year-old soldier hailing from Carmiel, situated in northern Israel. Mivtach met his untimely demise while engaged in combat operations in the northern region of the Gaza Strip, marking a somber milestone as he became the 34th IDF soldier to fall in the line of duty during the ongoing ground operation in the Gaza Strip. His affiliation was with the 9th Armored Battalion, part of the 401st Brigade, an integral unit within the IDF.
Regrettably, Mivtach was not the sole casualty from the IDF. Concurrently, a fighter belonging to Brigade 202 of the Paratroopers Brigade sustained severe injuries during a skirmish within the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the perilous conditions soldiers face on the battlefield.
Tragically, the preceding days had also witnessed the loss of two other brave soldiers. On Sunday, the IDF mourned the passing of Reserve Sergeant Major Naaran Eshchar, a 33-year-old tank commander serving in the 71st Battalion of the 188th Brigade. Additionally, the military shared the sorrowful news of Sergeant Yehonatan Maimon, who, at the tender age of 20, served in the Nahal Reconnaissance Battalion. He succumbed to the hazards of combat on Saturday while stationed in northern Gaza.
