Vladimir Nekrasov, the head of Lukoil, the second-biggest oil producer in Russia, died unexpectedly on Tuesday. He passed away from severe heart failure at the age of 66.

The company in a statement said, “It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden passing of Vladimir Ivanovich Nekrasov. According to the preliminary conclusion of doctors, death occurred as a result of acute heart failure,” reported by CNN.

Who was Vladimir Nekrasov?

Vladimir Nekrasov was 66 years old. According to Lukoil, Nekrasov spent almost fifty years working in the oil and gas sector. He held a number of positions, including first vice president at Lukoil and advisor to the president of the business.

The company released a statement expressing its deep grief over Vladimir Ivanovich Nekrasov’s untimely passing. According to preliminary medical evaluations, sudden heart failure was the cause of his death, CNN stated.

Nekrasov’s predecessor, Ravil Maganov, unfortunately died a little over a year ago, after falling from a Moscow hospital window, according to reports from Russian state media.

September 2022: Lukoil acknowledged Maganov’s death, saying just a serious illness and omitting any reference to the incident. In March 2022, Lukoil, a significant player in the global oil business with over 100,000 employees, produced headlines worth watching.

The business publicly condemned Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine, calling for an immediate end to the fighting and offering support for everyone impacted. The board of directors of Lukoil promoted a long-term truce and stressed the value of settling disputes through real talks and diplomacy.

Following Russia’s announced “special military operation” in Ukraine in February 2022, several Russian businessmen—many of whom were involved in the energy industry—have suddenly and mysteriously passed away.
