Sinema contributed to Ralph Nader’s presidential campaign in 2000. She ran for local elected office in 2001 and 2002 as an independent, but was not successful.

In 2002, The Arizona Republic published a letter written by Sinema in which she criticized capitalism. She opposed the North American Free Trade Agreement, also the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization during this time. In 2003, she protested Joe Lieberman’s unsuccessful 2004 presidential campaign, telling the Hartford Courant that: “He’s a shame to Democrats. “I don’t even know why he’s running,” she said.

Why did Kyrsten Sinema leave Democratic Party?

Kyrsten Sinema left Democratic Party, because she wants to become independent. Just few days after Democrats won a Senate race in Georgia, and secured 51 seats in the 100-member chamber split along sharp political lines, Senator Kyrsten Sinema announced that she is leaving the Democratic Party to become an independent.
