A British nurse was found guilty of killing seven newborns and attempted to kill six more at the hospital where she worked, making her the country’s deadliest baby serial murderer in recent memory.

According to evidence presented at Manchester Crown Court in northern England, Lucy Letby, a 33-year-old nurse, allegedly harmed neonates under her care by injecting air into their blood and stomachs, overfeeding them with milk, physically abusing them, and poisoning them with insulin.

Letby allegedly killed a baby boy named Child E by injecting air into his veins, according to the UK’s PA Media news agency. Letby attempted to use insulin to poison Child F, his identical twin, the following day.

Letby was arrested in connection with a string of neonatal deaths at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2018, 2019, and 2020, and she was charged with many charges of murder and attempted murder of infants in her care at the hospital between 2015 and 2016. She was found guilty of murdering seven children by injecting them with air on August 18, 2023, making her the UK’s most prolific baby murderer in recent times.
