He had the position as a reporter in his hometown in the year1990. Gray later relocated to Edmonton where he became the parliamentary bureau head. He made a return back to Toronto after several spectacular adventures with Ralph and obtained a position as a national correspondent for the now-defunct CBC business program Venture.
Gray has stated that he enjoys his profession. He grew up in Calgary and is as attached to its foothills and mountains as a bear in the spring, so he admits to having a bias.

Gray is about to part ways with CBC, according to current reports. David Gray made known his departure from CBC in an interview he granted. The long-serving journalist clarified why he has chosen to stop working for the CBC at the end of the month.
He says he is retiring for the time being and as well in search of fresh adventures and also to try new things.
