Charles Koshiway, a former husband, was her first husband. In Novato, California, USA, she passed away on October 2, 2022. Littlefeather had triumphed in the Miss American Vampire pageant in 1970. She serves as the Kateri Prayer Circle’s executive director in San Francisco in 2010.

Sacheen Littlefeather participated in the occupation of Alcatraz Island in 1969 along with other activists from the organization Indians of All Tribes to protest the U.S. government’s opposition to native land claims. In 1973, Sacheen Littlefeather refused by proxy Marlon Brando’s Oscar for The Godfather (1972), citing Hollywood’s misrepresentation of Native Americans.
