About Wolverhampton Wanderers football club

Wolverhampton is a professional football club located in Wolverhampton, England. It is a member of the Premier League and has been playing at Molineux Stadium since 1889 when it moved from Dudley Road. The club’s traditional kit consists of old gold shirts and socks paired with black shorts.

Since 1979, the kit has also featured the club’s iconic “wolf’s head” logo. Notable rivalries exist with other West Midlands clubs, particularly Aston Villa F.C., but the most significant one is the Black Country derby contested with West Bromwich Albion. Since 2016, Wolverhampton has been under the ownership of the Chinese conglomerate Fosun International.

Originally established as St. Luke’s F.C. in 1877, the club changed its name to Wolverhampton Wanderers two years later and became one of the founding members of the Football League in 1888. They achieved their first FA Cup victory in 1893 and repeated the feat in 1908 as a Second Division team following their relegation two years prior.

Football is a hugely competitive profession in which to ‘make it’. Talent is required, but it takes real resilience and determination to be successful in the game. Some people are noticed early on, and others develop later, so keep working hard, and keep emailing clubs at a variety of levels.

The higher the level you are currently playing at, the more likely you are to be noticed, so even if you don’t get a trial at Wolves, look to move up the leagues at whatever level you can.

Don’t lose heart, and however far you get, do it for the enjoyment of the game – professional recognition is an obvious bonus, but a love of the game will give you satisfaction whatever the outcome!
