Wide Receiver Mike Evans has given the Tampa Bay Buccaneers until September 9 to come to an agreement with him, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. The cutoff time is the day before the Buccaneers’ 2023 season-opening game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Mike Evans’ agent, Deryk Gilmore, put out a statement threatening to cut off contract negotiations with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if the two sides cannot agree on a deal by next Saturday, September 9, 2023. The deadline falls in the middle of Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.

Mike Evans has one year left on his $82.5 million, five-year deal that he signed in 2018. He will become an unrestricted free agent in 2024 if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers do not extend his contract at the end of the 2023 campaign.

In 15 games in 2022, Mike Evans recorded 1,124 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns, continuing his strong season. Evans has 1,000+ receiving yards for the ninth straight season, becoming him the only wide receiver in the NFL to accomplish this milestone. Evans has also never missed more than two games in his nine-year career, and he has never played fewer than 13 games in a season.

Mike Evans is an American football wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He played collegiate football for Texas A&M, where he set the school record for receiving yards and was a unanimous All-American. The Buccaneers selected Evans in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He was a Second-team All-Pro in 2016 and has been chosen to the Pro Bowl four times. Nearly all of the Buccaneers’ significant receiving records, including career catches, yards, and touchdowns, are held by Evans.
