John Dramani Mahama, said in 2015, the Free Senior High School (Free-SHS) programme was started by the NDC government.

According to him, the current Akufo-Addo-led government poorly implemented the programme, which compelled them to adopt the double track system.

Speaking at a campaign tour of Tuobong, a community in the Tempane District of the Upper East, he said if he wins the 2020 elections he would double track system introduced by the NPP

“We started the programme and the NPP came and continued it. Unfortunately the implementation has been very poor, and so it ended us in double track. I assure you my country men, that within one year, I will cancel the double track,” he said.

The pro-poor education policy is the flagship policy of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The policy was successfully rolled out in September 2017, after the NPP won the 2016 elections in Ghana.

His comments have received interesting reactions and comments from Ghanaians who think he does not know what he is saying.
