Syrian swimmer Yusra Mardini, born on March 5, 1998, resides in Hamburg, Germany right now. Yusra Mardini, a Syrian refugee and Olympic swimmer, was named the UNHCR’s youngest-ever Goodwill Ambassador in April 2017 at the age of just 19.
She promotes refugees around the world by sharing her own moving story. She has grown to be a powerful advocate for people who have been uprooted against their will and a symbol of their tenacity and will to rebuild their lives and make a positive contribution to their new communities.
When Yusra Mardini was only a teenager, Yusra fled the conflict in Syria and travelled by perilous sea to Europe with her sister, Sara.
The sisters and two other people got into the water and spent several hours guiding the dinghy to safety after the engine on their boat failed in the middle of the crossing, saving the lives of everyone on board.
Yusra Mardini Coach: Who is Sven Spannekrebs?
German citizen Sven Spannekrebs resides in Berlin. He is currently listed as a result of the PR Manager – Stakeholder Communication for the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 team.
He continues to be a member of the membership at Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 E.V., where he previously worked as a coach and supervisor.
Sven Spannekrebs may have taught Yusra Mardini there up until September 2018. At the 2019 World Swimming Championships, he also served as crew chief for the FINA Independent Athletes of the Refugee Olympic Team.
Additionally, Spannekrebs might serve on the board of the Berlin Sports Youth, a division of the Berlin Sports Federation.
