He played school football at BYU, where he was a double-cross bowl game MVP and was chosen second by and large by the Jets in the 2021 NFL Draft.
He went to Corner Canyon High School, where he played secondary school football. He passed for 2,986 yards and 24 scores while likewise scrambling for 752 yards and eight scores as a senior.
Wilson was initially dedicated to playing quarterback at Boise State University before later decommitting and deciding to go to Brigham Young University (BYU).
He is part Hawaiian on his father’s side, with his middle name Kapono meaning “righteous” in the Hawaiian language.
Some other members of his family include airline entrepreneur David Neeleman and HealthEquity co-founder Stephen Neeleman.
Wilson was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as a child, a trait that runs in his family.
