Fully called Alain da Costa Soares, he was born in the year 1935 in a place called French Equatorial Africa. Alain da Costa commenced his career in professional football when he first coached a club or team called USM Libreville, a football club located in Libreville Gabon. It is fully known as Union Sportive O’Mbila Nziami Libreville. From there, Alain da Costa went ahead to coach Vantour Mangoungou.
With his experience on the job, Alain da Costa then had the opportunity to coach the Gabon under-17 national team. Alain da Costa was with the team from the year 1987 to the year 1989.
