As the son of former NHL player Michael Nylander and the sibling of NHL player William Nylander, Nylander was born on March 2, 1998, in Calgary, Alberta.
The Buffalo Sabres selected Nylander in the opening round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He played in both the NHL and AHL for three seasons while a member of the Sabres’ organization. He was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in 2020, where he improved his abilities.
