Andrew Symonds, who was born on June 9, 1975, died on May 14, 2022. He was an Australian cricketer who represented his country in all three formats as a batting all-rounder.

He was an integral part of two World Cup-winning teams. As a right-handed batsman, Symonds batted in the middle order and bowled medium pace and off-spin.

He was also noted for his outstanding fielding abilities.

Symonds’ biological father had Afro-Caribbean descent, while his mother had Danish or Swedish ancestry. Symonds’ adoptive parents, Ken and Barbara, left for Australia when he was three months old, not long after his adoption.

One of the adoptive siblings, Louise Symonds, took part in Gladiators. He also has two non-adopted siblings. Andrew’s father Ken worked as a teacher at the private fee-paying All Souls St Gabriels School in Charters Towers, northern Queensland, where Andrew grew up.

At the age of 46, Symonds died in a single-vehicle road accident in Townsville, Queensland.
