In the American city of Ossining, Francis was born. Francis began modelling at the age of five to help her family survive the Great Depression. Anne made her Broadway debut at the age of 11.
Forbidden Planet marked a high-end, full-colour first for science fiction movies. Nine years later, Francis played a vivacious blonde private eye in Honey West, challenging gender norms with her rapid one-liners and body slams. For her performance, she received Golden Globe and Emmy nominations.
