Ghanaian musician and songwriter, Martin King Arthur who is popularly known as Kofi Kinaata, has given the reason why he will continue to sing in his native tongue and never switch to the Queen’s language.

In an interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM, the ‘Things Fall Apart” hitmaker said he finds it absurd with people’s demand for him to sing in English.

According to him, so long as Michael Jackson never sang in Fante (Ghanaian local dialect), he, Kofi Kinaata, will never sing in English.

” Why should I bother myself singing in a language that is not mine? Did Michael Jackson ever sing in Fante? Over my dead body will I sing in English ” Kofi Kinaata responded.

Abeiku Santana together with his audience was surprised at his utterance and thought it is simply because he can’t articulate himself in the English language.
Kofi Kinaata added that speaking English is never his problem but singing in English is what he is not prepared to do…using Michael Jackson as a case study.
