Spanish fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga founded the lavish, affluent Balenciaga fashion house in San Sebastian, Spain, in 1919. Balenciaga was referred to by well-known designer Christian Dior as “the maestro of us all.”

Balenciaga creates ready-to-wear apparel, handbags, shoes, and accessories and has granted Coty permission to use its brand and trademark for fragrances. The brand is currently owned by the French business Kering.

Cristóbal Balenciaga opened his first retail store in San Sebastián, Spain, in 1919. Later, he also developed his business in Barcelona and Madrid. The Spanish royal family and nobility wore his works. Following the closure of his boutiques due to the Spanish Civil War, Balenciaga relocated to Paris.

Balenciaga Campaign Teddy Bear Video

In November 2022, Balenciaga posted an advertisement campaign on their Instagram page that included children snuggling teddy bears dressed in bonds. According to photographer Gabriele Galimberti, the images come from the “Toy Stories” project series.
Balenciaga eventually apologized and removed all postings over the photo campaign after getting strong criticism.
