For his role with the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) from 1995 to 2013, López is highly recognized. Black Warrior has alternated between playing the rudo and the técnico over the years.

From 1985 until 1988, he was employed by EMLL, but he was not very successful. In 1988, he joined the Universal Wrestling Association after quitting EMLL. (UWA).

López modified his ring image once more in May 1996 when he adopted the moniker “Black Warrior.” Lopez collaborated with other Lagunero employees like Dr Wagner Jr. and his uncle Blue Panther. After undergoing a personality makeover, Black Warrior achieved success and on October 15 fought El Dandy to capture the NWA World Light Heavyweight Championship, giving him his first singles title.
