Carlos Santana wife: Cindy Blackman

American jazz and rock drummer Cindy Blackman Santana, sometimes known as Cindy Blackman, was born on November 18, 1959.

Blackman has performed with Pharoah Sanders, Sonny Simmons, Ron Carter, Sam Rivers, Cassandra Wilson, Angela Bofill, Buckethead, Bill Laswell, Lenny Kravitz, Joe Henderson, and Joss Stone.

He has also recorded several jazz albums as a bandleader.

Blackman had the chance to collaborate with Lenny Kravitz in 1993. Blackman played the drums for Kravitz while he listened as Kravitz and Blackman spoke on the phone from New York to Los Angeles.

Blackman was immediately requested by Kravitz to depart for Los Angeles. She stayed for two weeks, during which time the Are You Gonna Go My Way music video was filmed. She would later serve as Kravitz’s touring drummer for 18 years.

Blackman recorded for the first time with a working ensemble in the late 1990s. Because of the close contact inside the band, they gave the album the name Telepathy.

The instructional film Multiplicity was also produced by Blackman and her band.
