Chen Yuxi is from China as of September 11, 2005. He was born into a family with a history in gymnastics. Former gymnast Chen Xinxi was her granddad.
Her mother, Dong Chunhua, is an associate professor in the gymnastics teaching and research section at the Shanghai University of Sport, and her father, Chen Jian, is a gymnastics coach at the Shanghai Youth Sports School in the Xuhui District.
She started practising gymnastics in 2008, and Shi Meiqin, the then-leader of the Shanghai diving squad, chose her to start practising diving in 2011.
Chen began his training with the Shanghai diving squad at the start of 2017.
Chen has since then been representing her country in every Olympics tournament.
